Carol Lesselyoung, 66, of Faulkton passed away, Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.

Memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Bill Hoffman officiating. Inurnment followed at German Zion Congregational Cemetery, Tolstoy.  Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, all at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton.

Carol Elizabeth Geist, daughter of Arthur and Esther (Dutt) Geist, was born February 3, 1946 at Gettysburg, SD.  She attended elementary school in Seneca and high school in Faulkton.  She married Dennis Lesselyoung on December 15, 1963 at Seneca.  They made their home in Faulkton and Carol began working at the SuperValu store in 1968.  Although her marital status changed in 1996, Faulkton was home to Carol, and she continued working as a meat cutter at Bauer’s SuperValu until her health started to fail in 2011.  In the spring of 2012, she became a resident at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.

Carol loved music.  Her interest in playing guitar and singing started while still in elementary school and continued after she moved to Faulkton.  She was very often asked to perform at various functions and enjoyed Karaoke events held locally.  Carol was known to love laughter and enjoyed joking and making others laugh.  She was an avid competitor in sports.  It was softball in her younger years, but later it became bowling, golf, and darts, all of which she continued to do until she became too ill to enjoy them any longer.  She loved dogs and enjoyed collecting and displaying dog pictures and figurines – her collection is impressive.  Carol enjoyed the company of some very special friends who supported and helped her through the bad times and shared many good times with her.

Survivors include her two sons: Steven (Roxanne) Lesselyoung and David (Sharen) Lesselyoung, both of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren: Dr. Natasha Swier, and Dylan and Drew Lesselyoung; two step-granddaughters: Veronica Zimmerman and Amanda Zimmerman; three sisters: Marge Perry of Liberty, MO, Jane (John) Hoffert and Deb (Leon) Etzkorn, both of Pierre, SD; step-mother, Ann Geist of Aberdeen, SD; nieces; nephews; cousins; and her beloved pet, Buffy.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 1983 and her father in 1998.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Carol’s arrangements.
